 General Information

Banbury, is nestled on the eastern edge of the beautiful Cotswolds and close to the historic civil war battle sites of Edge Hill and Cropredy, is a great place to visit. The Oxford canal side is extremely well landscaped and runs through the centre of the town. Castle Quay Shopping Mall, Banbury Museum and The Mill Arts Centre, main venue of the festival, line its banks. It is pleasant just to sit by its side and watch boats and the world go by, yet it is only a short walk from the rest of the town with its charming medieval narrow shopping streets and alleyways. in 2005 a "Fine Lady on a White Horse" statue, as depicted in the famous nursery rhyme 'Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross', was unveiled by the Princess Royal. Please go and see it. It's at the top of the High Street opposite the cross.
